Susan Eid oversees the company’s federal, state and local legislative and regulatory agenda. She and her six-person Government and Regulatory Affairs team are the company’s lead advocates before Congress, the Executive Branch, the FCC and other federal agencies. Additionally they are responsible for overseeing policy issues at the state and local level. The DIRECTV Government Affairs team works to ensure that laws and regulations enhance, rather than impede, our ability to innovate and transform the video marketplace. To support these efforts, Government Affairs also manages DIRECTV’s Political Action Committee (PAC).
Prior to joining DIRECTV in 2004, Susan was a senior public policy advisor to former FCC Chairman Michael Powell on all media issues, including satellite, broadcast, cable television and broadband issues. In that role, she directed the first major revision of decades-old media ownership rules. Before serving in the government, Susan held a number of positions with Continental Cablevision, then the third-largest cable company in the country.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a law degree from Boston College and is based in DIRECTV’s Washington, D.C. office.
